I was reading SlashDot today and their was an article about faster sorting of LinkedLists, and I had a flashback moment on College. I found my first official post of a library to comp.sources.misc of LinkedList. I wrote all the sort routines and did the porting work. I created the sort routines mainly because my Professor Husein Laringafi said it wasn’t possible. Obviously he was wrong, and this is probably why he asked my not to come to class anymore:) Kidding, really I just annoyed him in class because I kept pointing out all the logic and programming errors in his class materials. So he asked me not to come anymore and made me his teaching aid. Here is the link to an archived version of LinkedList from May 1993: http://www.landfield.com/software/comp.sources.misc/packages/linkedlist/

So to contiue the story.
Arielle had the Prius towed to the dealer. Because the car would not power on, they had to drag it down the driveway and leave a skid mark.
I spent the day worrying that the car was broken, and I’d need a new battery ( $3000 ) or a new engine!
So at about 4pm Arielle called me and the dealer diagnosed the problem. I ran out of gas!
So the deal goes, the car was low on gas and running it to warm up in the driveway ran our the little gas that was left. I must have missed the low fuel light the night before
The car seems to have a special feature that if the car runs out of gas, it detects that and shuts down the hybrid system, to protect the battery. This is good as the battery is expensive to replace. The car had the Sirius and the headlights on thou, and the car isn’t smart enough to turn the accessories off, that depleted the conventional battery. So this made it impossible for me to have just put in some gas, since even after adding gas they needed to recharge the conventional battery.
So in all this became a 50$ lesson in Prius maintenance that included a free 1 gallon of gas.
