ImageThis was my first trip to a Disney Park and I was more than impressed.  It was New Years Eve and we planned on hitting DCA along with Disneyland in one night.  The first half of our plan was flawless and the 2nd half is discussed in the Disneyland review.  The crowds at DCA weren’t bad at all but the weather was unbelievably cold and we had not come to Southern California prepared for cool weather.  So the wife had to but some Mickey Mouse gloves and since I’m cheap I decided to suffer.

Upon entering the park we were immediately overwhelmed by the amount of detail in the theming and the cleanliness.  We headed straight to the back of the park to Paradise Pier where most of the rides can be found.  Since we were there at night we got to see the incredible lighting that DCA installed and Paradise Pier was by far the most extraordinary area.

I was worried that the rides would be overly kid friendly and I quickly found that DCA caters to teens and thrill seekers.  You can find my thoughts on each ride in the DCA overview.  Lines were not an issue this night and our longest wait was for Mulholland Madness, which amounted to 25 minutes.  Most of the rides didn’t have a line at all and the only ride that we avoided on purpose was Grizzly River Run.  A signed warned of the wetness factor and combination of coldness and intelligence kept us away.  We’ve heard that it’s one of the top river rapids ride in the world so it took a little while to convince our intelligence that it was a bad idea.

Our 2nd longest line was Taste Pilots’ Grill and like the rides it was worth the short wait.  We scored a couple of burgers and we were pleased to find that they didn’t resemble park food at all.  Each of the restaurants were tempting but this one looked quick and easy.  On our way out we stopped in at the treat shop and picked up some sweets.  Jenni had a Snickerdoodle that was as big as her head, while I enjoyed a massive Rice Krispies treat dipped in chocolate.
