Worlds of Fun 10/31/07 Season's End

ImageWe got to the park around 7pm and had a quick dinner at the Panda Express.  The temperature had probably dropped into the 50’s by the time we were done eating so it was on the chilly side.  Since lines had prevented us from visiting Lore of the Vampire we hit it first.  There wasn’t a line so we went right in.  Even with our Blood Shed bias we found this to be the best Haunt of the night.  Lots of screams from Janessa and they even got Ben and I to jump a couple of times.

Next up was Patriot and since it was only running one train we had to wait 15 minutes for the back row.  No rattle and plenty of speed.  Just how I like it.  It was a bit surprising though considering the temperature and all.

Ben and I wanted one last ride on Timber Wolf and I’m glad that we took it.  The brakes were completely off (I think) and the train hauled butt through the course.  Best ride of the year.  I had my hands tucked away in my hoodie and had to pull them out to hold on halfway down the first drop.  This was a walk-on.

It had been a while since any of us had ridden Detonator so we waited the five minutes and knocked it out.  They were only running one tower.  Unfortunately it was one of the weakest launches I can remember.

We walked up the hill to check out the awesomeness that is commonly referred to Blood Shed and found a long time.  We put it off for later and headed for Mamba.  We found another single train set up but only had to wait three ride cycles.  The cool air becomes much more apparent when you’re cruising at 75mph.  Temperature aside it was an awesome ride.

The group made its way over to Oceans of Fun for Asylum Island and found about a 30 minute wait.  Halfway through our wait a group of four girls snuck into line right in front of us and Ben called them out on it.  When he directed them to the back of the line they ignored him.  Two minutes later he spotted a security guard and they got the boot.  Ben will forever be known as a hero.  Once we got into Asylum we found too much lighting and not enough scaring.  Out of the four major Haunts it ranked near the bottom that night.

When we got back up towards Mamba we decided to take another spin.  This one had a short wait but felt like it was 10 degrees colder.  It still ruled.

We then headed over to Camp Gonnagitcha and walked right in.  I love the setting of this Haunt and the fact that they got me to jump a couple of times.

Blood Shed was still in need of a visit so backtracked to the other side of the park and walked right in (it was close to 10pm by now).  Lots of fog, lots of energy and solid scares throughout the house.  It’s unfortunate that they couldn’t top Lore from earlier in the night.

It was time to finish off the night and the 2007 season with a front row ride on Patriot.  We only had to wait about 10 minutes and it was well worth it.  Patriot is getting better and better with each passing day and the g-forces are starting to really show up in the front couple of rows.

I’m hoping that I can freeze myself and wake back up in April when the park opens back up.
