ImageIt was originally going to be a lazy Labor Day for us, but after sleeping half of it away we decided to get up and do something.  That something wound up being a quick afternoon trip to Worlds of Fun.  The parking lots didn’t look very full so we knew that we would be able to make this most of our afternoon.  Our first order of business was lunch.  We used the season pass discount at All Stars near the park entrance and were surprised by the quality of the food.  I had a pork tenderloin sandwich with fries and Jenni had chicken fingers with fries.  The portions were mountainous and we weren’t able to finish what we got.  The dinning room looks out over Viking Voyager and the walls are decorated with local sports memorabilia.  We’ll definitely eat there again.

Now that we had some food in us it was time to hit the rides.

Bamboozler was a walk-on and it was our first ride on this contraption ever.  We almost always avoid spinning rides but we recently discovered the power of the ginger root and we can now ride even the craziest spinning rides.  Bamboozler was a great disorienting ride and I’m really mad that I haven’t tried it sooner.

Patriot was a 5 minute wait for the back row, which is also known as the best row.  I don’t think that I will ever grow tired of this ride.  It just keeps getting better and better.

Timber Wolf was a 1 train wait and I was happy to see both trains in operation.  The work looks to be ongoing with Timber Wolf and the ride seems to be improved.  The roughness doesn’t seem out of the ordinary for a wood coaster.  I still prefer the back rows.

Jenni scored a Shaved Ice near Timber Wolf’s entrance and watched while I rode.  Ever time we go to the park this shaved ice stall is closed so she was really stoked when she saw someone working it.  She got the grape and recommends that everyone else do the same.

Worlds of Fun Railroad was a walk-on and we usually start riding the train more and more towards the end of the year to look for signs of construction.  Unfortunately there was nothing to see this time around but we’ll be sure to keep our eyes open.

Flying Dutchman was another walk-on.

Mamba was running two trains and the wait was about 5 minutes.  We rode in the back car and I am now having trouble deciding if the front is better than the back.  Both rides are very different and both deliver an excellent ride.

Octopus was the last stop and it was a walk-on.  I haven’t been on this ride in probably 10 years because of the spinning issue but the ginger worked it’s magic again.  I didn’t remember this ride having such great air-time.

We were going to get some cotton candy on the way out of the park but found a line that was 20 people deep.  The 25¢ deal has probably been a boon for the park.

Since it was time for dinner we drove up to Stroud’s and got right in.  This is one of our favorite restaurants in town so we were pleased to see it lacking a wait.  We split a chicken fried chicken dinner and as usual it left us fat and happy.

It turns out that Labor Day is an excellent day to visit the park.
