Another update and another day of frozen feet.  The temperature today was about 20 when we were out there.  At least the ground was frozen so we didn't have to worry about being knee deep in mud.
The lift is progressing down towards the creek and a couple of new bents were put in place while we were there.  They crossed over the brake run, which is a pretty tight fit and the next obstacle will be the 2nd hill.  The return run will also cross through the base of the lift as it head up towards the final turn.  It will be interesting to see how they put these final pieces together.
The peirs are now complete for both sides of the lift bridge and work has started on a giant concrete block that will house the lift motor.  The footer trenches from the station to the lift bridge were poured today and the only significant concrete work left is the actual footers.  If the weather holds they hope to have the return bridge in place by the end of the week.  The lift bridge will require a larger crane and might not happen until some time in early January.  Each girder of the lift bridge weighs 14,000 pounds.  The lift will start heading up as soon as it station side of the bridge.
