Today was the big day. Schlitterbahn Vacation Village announced that they were opening to the public this afternoon at about 2:30 via Twitter. The next few days are expected to be a soft opening and the possiblity of a few attractions being closed is possible. By the weekend they hope to be at operating at 100%. During the soft opening period admission will be discounted but don't expect the discount to last for long. Based on our tour this afternoon it looks like Schlitterbahn is really close to having all of the attractions open. The park has undergone a major transformation since our last construction update. Landscaping is in place along with theming and large trees. It's a great looking park with lots of color and the future looks even brighter. They posted their plans on a wall inside the main entrance and I'd guess that they current park is only about 30% of the final plan. I posted a shot of the wall in the gallery. It's pretty hard to follow all of the waterways and slides. I could probably stare at that thing for hours. Several guests showed up for the surprise opening and tested the waters for everyone else. The wife and I plan on writing our first trip report this Friday. Here are some photos from this afternoon.
