Coaster Community

The wife and I decided to make use of Schlitterbahn’s soft opening and have some fun in the sun.  We arrived around 1pm and we were immediately surprised by the amount of cars in the parking lots.  We could also see a significant line at the slide complex. 

Once we got into the park we headed for White Water Grill.  We each got a cheese burger, split a chili cheese fry and a diet coke and it came out to $18.  The food was good and the pricing didn't seem out of line.  Instead of waiting an hour we decided to role the dice and test out the water.  We started at Torrent River.  The water was a bit cool but it's probably due to the record low temperature we had the night before.  There were a lot of people floating past Torrent Beach and going for 2nd time around.  The waves were fun and the water moved pretty quickly.  It still takes a while to get through the whole course even with the speed.  Next up was the slides.  Wolf Pack was down but Bahnzai Pipeline and Black Knight were ready for sliders.  We started with single tube attempts on Black Knight.  Not being able to see caused me to lose my tube half way down.  It's a wild ride.  We headed right back up but this time we had a double tube and Bahnzai in our sights.  The double tube is the way to go.  We found Bahnzai to be a bit more exciting than Black Knight.  To be fair we figured that we should try Black Knight with a double as well.  It was certainly better than the single ride but still not as awesome as Bahnzai. 

It was break time, which meant testing out the swim up bar at Henry's Hideout.  The water was warm (it's a hot tub) and each drink seemed to be around $6.  We threw back a few and watch them test Storm Blaster with employees.  I'm guessing that it will be open for the weekend.

Break time was over and it was time to take another lap through Torrent River.  We did single tubes this time and chased each other around.

It was a great day.  We've already planned our next trip a couple of weeks out.  We're looking forward to Storm Blaster and Wolf Pack.
