Millennium Force Model
« on: Sep 29, 2008, 01:51 »
Here is the project that is slowing down my Zambezi Zinger project. I find I have to work on different things for a few days or else my work gets sloppy. This is what I have been working on this week. It has consumed around 84 hours of my time so far.

A Preview before the 3DS work:

http://www.youtube.com/v/N8n-aUvMj68&fmt=18

High quality will be available on YouTube. Finished project coming soon.

Millennium Force - Cedar Point Amusement Park, Sandusky, OH

I think I'm going to take a few days off of this project to do other things, but now comes the time to put in all the details such as station houses, queue lines, trees, water, buildings...you know all the realistic stuff. Thanks for looking!

Even if someone objects you have my permission to verbally abuse them.  We're a coaster site so feel free to post everything you have.  You're doing great work.

If you're accepting challenges I would like to see you design something original.

If you want to see some original work, you can see some videos on my youtube: http://www.youtube.com/AyTrane

Some of them are old and a little rough, but most of them are newer. Don't mind the Battlefield 1942 stuff.

Some fun looking videos. I loved the Jeep Jumping one even though it wasn't coaster related.

Making some progress on Millennium Force. One of the stations is up, lacking a little on the interior, but it might stay that way if we lose out on frame rate. The maintenance shed is not in the first photo, I haven't built it yet. The lower pulleys are in place, I have the motor drum designed, but not in place yet. Working on the catwalk at the top of the hill at the moment.

Up they go!

Closer view of the pulleys.

Maintenance track is in place, awaiting supports.

The flyby is fun!

Few new pictures for you. I have been working on the unload station (missing the cut away), the walkway, and the trains now have logos!

Maintenance box is now installed.

It's been a busy week for Millennium Force. Grass is growing everywhere, coasters are popping up in the background, stations are getting modified, and footers are finding their homes.

The station is starting to look more like the real thing.

Queue area is being poured.

Someone should really mow.

Impressive work.

I think that I may have asked this before but are you trying to get into the industry or is this just a hobby?

Hobbyists like yourself might start making it difficult for Keith to score all of the animation jobs.  I've heard that he's pretty expensive.

It's sort of like the b-roll situation.  A park can hire amateurs like Ben and me for much less than a full production company and they still get the footage in HD.  I know of other parks that have hired regional nerds like us to shoot their b-roll as well.

Very nicely done!!!

As awesome as this is, I'm sure the finished product can't relate to us all the effort that went into it.  You are very talented and I look forward to seeing more of your work.

Great job!
