Several riders on Griffon were hurt Thursday evening, after storms rolled through the Busch Gardens Williamsburg area, and caused a prop to be blown into the path of an oncoming Griffon train. The ride reopened today, but here is a statement from Busch Gardens on the event:
"At approximately 7:30 p.m. Thursday, a quickly moving storm caused a weather-related incident at Busch Gardens. A sudden gust of high wind knocked an inflatable prop into the path of a Griffon coaster train, which came to a stop at the top of the coaster's second hill.
Guests were escorted from the train and treated on site for injuries. Five guests were transported to Sentara Williamsburg Regional Medical Center. Please contact the hospital for information on the guests' conditions."
