^If the price is right, they will... just you watch.
Cedar Fair is a business, they aren't in it for the fun (although they get some great benefits). That article is from May, and he states that Cedar Fair has no PLANS to close any parks, but this does not mean they won't. If an offer comes along, they might consider it, and this will be true with about a quarter of their parks.
Geauga Lake had a very high operating cost. Six Flags dumped a ton of money into it hoping that they could boost attendance. It wasn't enough so they sold the park to the competition. Cedar Fair looked at what cost the park so much and decided they could do away with some of the rides that cost the park a lot to run, and sent them to parks that could afford it. Off the bat Cedar Fair probably had no intention of closing the park, but the park was in need of repair, and ride operating cost continued to rise as they aged, and the attendance was. In 2007 Cedar Fair decided that they would look at what rides they could move to other parks, and the rest would be auctioned to cover the overhead. It's a terrible shame that they had to do it, but why keep something that will cost you so much to operate. Worlds of Fun was probably looking like that to them too, but they chose to invest more into the park, and it's starting to turn up for them. Once they figure a strategy, the park will be amazing.
Edit:
I found where the rumor of adding five coasters came from. The same articles states "This year we are adding five coasters" meaning Kings Dominion, Canada's Wonderland, Michigan's Adventure, Knott's Berry Farm, and Dorney Park. This was not a 2009 projection, it was a statement for 2008.
