Demon Drop.......... Not going to Knotts????
« on: Nov 23, 2009, 07:11 »
Well Screamscape has an very interesting rumor that Knotts may not want the ride after all, not sure how they would really have a choice since they are a park inside the same chain. Well according to screamscape they seem to have WOF on radar as a possible option for the ride if it does not end up going to Knotts. I personally would love it because I really enjoyed it as CP, but I understand it has issues too. Anybody else find this odd?? Does anybody have a gut feeling this will go to the scrap pile?

I'm surprised that it hasn't gone to the scrap pile already.  The whole story seems strange for sure.

As a fan I would love to see Demon Drop at WOF (especially if it were to get a mine shaft theme).  However, I have a difficult time seeing such a move being cost effective.  The operation and maintenance costs almost out warrant the popularity of the ride which is exactly why I don't see it going to a small park like MIA.

I honestly thought KBF would have been a good place for it because of the following:
1.  It's a "new" thrill ride that can be advertised in a competitive market.
2.  It requires minimal space which is a big deal in a landlocked park like Knott's.
3.  It has great theming potential.
4.  It would have added much needed rider capacity.
5.  I'm told that Knott's has one of the better maintenance teams of the chain meaning it would have greater up-time.
6.  Who cares if Magic Mountain had one when so much of your customer base are tourists?

I don't think 1-5 is more applicable to any CF park than Knott's.

I have never been able to ride it so if it happened to show up at WOF next year I wouldn't mind!

It would prove to be popular if it was added to WOF and frankly if it was between this or nothing, I'm going to pick Demon Drop every time

It would be cool to have a CP ride at WOF!
Plus this ride is pretty fun, WOF needs a drop ride bad anyways, even though a new one would be a lot better...

What if it kept us from getting something much better in two years?

Just like if Villian from GL came to us instead of Prowler.

Yeah, I honestly think the chances of it moving here are slim to none, but you never know what could happen.  It's a fun ride, but honestly, WOF could do better.

...except their waterpark, which has a newer slide then OOF does.  (I sure wish we'd get a tornado slide)

TBQH, I'm rather ticked that Adventureland is getting a Tantrum, Downhill Mat Racers and Hydromagnetic Rocket befre OOF.

I would take Demon Drop in a heartbeat!  Of course I would NEVER ride it, but that's the whole point.

Demon Drop going to Dorney makes as much sense as it going to Knotts.  Whatever.

Demon Drop with Magnetic brakes sounds amazing, that was the one part of the ride I didn't enjoy.

I love Dorney but I don't know if I see them getting Demon Drop. They got that noise issue with the neighbors and Demon Drop is not quiet as we who have rode it know. Maybe and I say maybe the noise will reduce with those rumored magnetic brakes? I havent rode Demon Drop since the year Maverick was being built so I forgot most of my experience on it but I do remember a rough brake run.

Ya, I just can't remember most of the ride sadly. I rode it years back so I can't remember it. I just know it was pretty fun.
