OOF Expansions?
« on: Aug 19, 2009, 05:06 »
So we've all talked lately how OoF needs to add some new slides.  Today's press release by Dolly's Splash Country got me thinking, why can't WoF/OoF spare $1 million to add a four lane racer from ProSlide like DSC is adding next year?  We all know that it would be extremely popular and honestly in the amusement world, $1 million for a new attraction is pretty darn cheap.

and discuss...

I think it'd be pretty sweet! I love those kinds of slides. But would it be an awkward thing to put in since they already have racers? Reguardless it would be awesome

I agree. OOF could use some TLC here and there.
Looks like they may lose a good amount of guests because of Shlitterbahn next year. I've had numerous guests tell me that they probably won't visit OOF as much because of Shlitterbahn.

No because Typhoon is a body slide and you have to go feet first whereas this would be a head first down hill slide on mats.

I don't know how much a 4 lane version of this would cost, but it is pretty cool: http://www.proslide.com/rides_07_b.php

Now if they did a Blizzard beach style racer where times were posted that would be even better.

Kings Island has some of the racers. I finally rode one of the slides this last trip, it was a blast, short, but fun nonetheless.

While standing in line for Prowler during Mayhem, I got to talking to my friend about how the plunge used to be in the spot of the queue line. Then a question popped into my head, why didn't the park just move the plunge over to Oceans of Fun? And better yet, why did they even build the plunge in Worlds of Fun to begin with?

I wonder if OoF will end up joining with WoF (in that two-parks-one-admission thing that CF does) now that Schlitterbahn is a going concern. It's hard to imagine OoF competing with Schlitterbahn as a standalone park.
...and the clocks were striking thirteen.

Brandon stated during the chat that Oceans of Fun probably wouldn't be competing directly with Schlitterbahn.

Paging Jennifer.  I know the story on why it was built, but she tells it better.
