Valleyfair 2009/10
« on: Jul 5, 2008, 10:14 »
The rumors have been flying in the past two weeks about Valleyfair's new attraction/ride for the next two years.
Here's one report from Screamscape:

Quote
Its been a great week for rumors so far and this next one is sure to please the Valleyfair crowd if it comes true. Look for a new steel B&M creation to make a hard landing near the front of the park in 2009 or 2010. We don’t know the exact design, but it seems likely that your feet will hang, so either a Floorless or Inverted are most likely, but don’t expect to see a Dive Machine.

Now one rumor has it that we are indeed getting an invert for 2009 which would be odd considering that'd be a two year gap regarding expansions including coasters.

Another brand new rumor is that the Flume will be removed in order to open a new wavepool for White Water Country Waterpark.

I can only hope for the best, but right now, I don't see us getting both of those expansions in 1 season. I would love seeing that wavepool, but I'd rather have the Flume stay. That's my favorite water ride. :(

Flumes are a dying breed.  Wave pools bring in the peeps.

An invert or a floorless would be a great addition IMO.

Definitely 2010 and not before.  You would have seen some movement by now if that was the case.

I doubt you will get much info out of them before they are ready to talk... but good luck nonetheless

Probably don't. They must hate Nebraskans. I just sent a 3rd with my Cell Phone number attached in case they have tried to reply and my email isn't working for them.

Renegade, WildThing, Log Flume and Corkscrew all have photos.  However, Corkscrew Photos is not always open.

Any other "qwest" -ions?

Cool I like buying those. I probably won't buy one from Log Flume. I try to stick to Coasters I dunno though I might. Thanks. I hope they answer my email sometime soon.

I thought Corkscrew had on-ride video now.  Perhaps I'm mistaken...

It did not have it when I was there last month on the 21st.  Perhaps they have added it since then?

Valleyfair is listed as a location on CDride's website.  It doesn't say which ride has their system though.

I think I heard it mentioned somewhere that Corkscrew was going to get it, but it wasn't operational when we were there.  IDK?!?!

Interesting.  Well perhaps since I DC about Corkscrew so much that I just wanted to get the torture over with so that Derrijk could get his "credit" and move on, I overlooked them.

IDK!?!?

The video system is not operational at this time, you're right. I don't know the whole story, but it's definately not going right now.

Why does the Sierra Sidwinder video have B-roll from VF, Carowinds, and Dorney, but not Knott's?!

I personally never understood the addition of on ride video to corkscrew.  I would have either put it on Wild Thing or better yet saved the money for a down payment on a nice B&M anything.

Why does the Sierra Sidwinder video have B-roll from VF, Carowinds, and Dorney, but not Knott's?!

That was the point Lance Hart was making by posting that video (that's him and his son).  However, others have commented on the page for that video than since then Sierra Sidewinder video is only video of the person's ride with no B-roll.

I don't understand the choices parks make for on ride video.  I realize there are logistics to deal with such as mounting but I can't see spending $20 for a video of my ride on Tony Hawk's Big Spin (this was at SFFT).

But more topical, It would be nice to see ValleyFair get something from B&M. It will be interesting to see what develops.

"Better" is a relative term and is always up for debate.  However considering that our hyper is both taller, longer, faster then their hyper and I'm willing to wager that our woodie will continue suit  :angel4:  It would only be fitting that their inverted (should it ever materialize) would be a little longer, taller and faster than our inverted.  With that being said, they would have to find a lot more room than the park currently has to accomplish said feat, so I wouldn't worry too much (if it even materializes to begin with).

VF's invert is already "taller" than WoF's...

yes it is -- which is another reason why I don't see VF getting a B&M inverted
