I keep thinking about Cedar Fair dumping Nickelodeon and Hanna-Barbera from the old Paramount parks. I just don't understand how much Peanuts can offer when talking about parks with large kid areas, such as Kings Island. How many Snoopy rides can one place have?
Hanna-Barbera is a unit of Warner Bros. Animation, and Nickelodeon is property of Viacom, and more specifically MTVN. Are the contracts, to use material from these two entities, so large that the cost outweighs the benefit of having multiple cartoon characters from different shows in one place? So maybe instead of Scooby's Haunted Mansion, we will see "Lucy's (Haunted) Football Challenge" or perhaps "Snoopy hunts for Ghosts" to be more generic. How far can you really go with just the Peanuts brand? I say, pay the extra and keep the title of "Best Kids Area" in the Golden Ticket, and keep your customer (Kids and their Parents) happy and coming back.
