I have read a bit about 2011 at Cedar Point. I thought maybe we should have a topic on it.

Yeah I was thinking of making one awhile ago but never did, glad someone did!
So the rocking boat ride there is apparently up for sale and that's where the markers are and theres some markers on the beach! Lots of rumors about what it can be too...hmm!!
Better be a coaster ;) Cant let SSMM take the lead!

I think they've said it won't be a coaster (or, more accurately, that it doesn't have to be a coaster to be thrilling), but they have also said it's a thrill ride and let's not forget the bit about how it's supposed to bring back fond memories of Cedar Point's past. I'm hoping we're misinterpreting the first part and that it's a cyclone-style GCI on the beach.

I doubt it's a coaster.  They seem to have been pretty clear about that.  Another high intensity flat/thrill ride would be nice.

Maybe it's just future planning. They're trying to clean out an area for a future coaster (2012 or beyond). A coaster on or near the beach would be pretty cool.  A GCI would be my preference.

When have they hinted or mentioned that this will not be a coaster...?  Everything I've heard points to a GCI.

It's going to be a great ride. All thrill rides aren't coasters. It's going to be something that I think the teen market is really going to like.

Interesting, but I still wouldn't read into it too much.  There's a good chance he could be fooling us.  Cedar Point has a good collection of flats, and after 4 years, I think a new coaster (specifically a GCI) would be perfect.

^Well, that seems to be the consensus on other sites. I thought it seemed pretty clear, but I suppose it's possible that we are misinterpreting something. Anyway, even if they don't add a coaster this year, I think we can all agree that their next one needs to be a GCI. :P

Jason, if the 2011 addition isn't going where Ocean Motion was, are you assuming it will go in Demon Drop's lot or what?

I agree that a 2012 GCI on or near the beach would be ideal for the park.  I think removing Disaster Transport and retheming the area to a boardwalk would be about pretty cool.

I am assuming that the 2011 attraction will go in either of those locations and I am assuming that it's a flat ride.

Not the swinging ship! Those rides are great. I think it had low ridership because no one knew it was hidden back by the beach. I think this ride would do well in the back of the park, near Frontier Trail.

Whatever the park is building, I will be looking forward to it!

Swinging ships make me sick for some reason.

What are some good flat rides that they don't have yet?

They have a good selection of flat rides, but there is always room for more of the exotic ones.

Searching for flat rides seems to bring up a lot of state fair junk.  What are some exotic rides or where would be a good place to look?

I keep remembering the Huss Jump2 like Sledge Hammer and CW. Always thought that looked like a cool ride. Or a Mondail Top Scan.

So it leaked out in the Sandusky paper that Cedar Point was looking to go Star Flyer but is instead opting for a new Wind Seeker option from Monodial.  The Wind Seeker option looks like an extremely tall version Fjörd Fjärlane and can operate in high winds.  I just wonder how tall they'll go.

I also wonder if other parks might be getting one.  There's still a lot of announcements that haven't been made.

PS - Funtime is apparently pissed that CP is going with a competing product and thus the reason for the leak.  A lawsuit is also pending.

The Sandusky Register quoted Funtime saying CP was looking at a 400+ foot Star Flyer.

I'm thinking CW is getting one as well, judging by their teaser at least. And both announcements are the same day. Reminds me vividly of 2006 with Xtreme Swing and Skyhawk. But who knows...

Extreme ***** move there by Funtime outing CP's addition just because they didn't get the bid for the ride... and the whole talk about suing CP because they are using another company's design instead.  Not cool.

So far the only coaster in the chain would seem to be Knotts and that's only because of the crazy amount of survey markings all over the park.  When was the last time CF built so few coasters in an off season?

The Knotts situation certainly seems the most interesting at this point.

Well if you go by the rumors, KBF is removing Skycabin and a swing ride is going there.

I'm still not convinced CW's is a swing ride as well, because of the markers and removal of the dolphin arena.
