Coaster Christmas 2009 at SDC
« on: Oct 1, 2009, 08:16 »
The ACE Heart of America Region is again hosting its annual Coaster Christmas event at Silver Dollar City this year, and this year... it is better then ever.  Those arn't just words either folks.

It will be a 1 day event, including a 2 day ticket, on December 5th and 6th.  To start off the price has been significantly lowered.  $40 for ACE Members, $15 for ACE Member Season Pass Holders, $50 for Non-ACE Members (must attend with an ACE Member) and $25 for Non-ACE Member Season Pass Holders.  For a complete list of prices visit here: http://www.ace18.org/coasterchristmas

A lowered price is only half the fun though.  ERT in the morning will feature PowderKeg, Wildfire and Fire in the Hole, from 11-Noon.  It is true in the past we have had about a 50/50 of big coaster ERT, however ERT is starting 30 mins later this year, so I figure that gives us a better chance.

We are also continuing our tradition of VIP seating for the Dicken's Christmas Carol at the Opera House, this show has had longer lines then Top Thrill Dragster at Cedar Point on a Saturday in July!  A great perk.

Last, of course the event will include a lunch buffet (location TBD) featuring park presentations, in the past this has included presentations from SDC and WOF, but we are also sending requests to Schlitterbahn and Six Flags as we have in the past.

Let me know if you have any questions, my e-mail address as always is jlovesee@sbcglobal.net

I also may be slow in responding over the next few weeks I have been taking classes towards a nursing degree and that has been eating up what little free time that I had.

I'm pretty sure that we'll be there.

I think that you'll have better luck getting Schlitterbahn down there this year.

Sounds like fun! Wish I could make it for the ERT because I learned at Mayhem ERT rocks, but the presentations sound like fun to hearing whats new for SDC and WOF. Hope all that go have a great time.

The thing I like about this event is that is usually the same people every year going, so it's like a big ol' Christmas family reunion.  The fact this event is much more laid back then many others is also a plus... that and you cannot beat the food.  Shoot $15 for the food and ert is a bargain

So I know that I've been telling you for two years that I'm coming Jennifer, but I'm really going to try this year...it all depends on my Disney trip the following week.

SDC is after all the 2nd happiest place on earth..

Don't forget registration deadline is Nov 22nd for mail in, Nov 25th for online registration.

I contacted Chris at Schlitterbahn, he will be in TX during our event, but is donating some door prizes for us.  which is nice.  I haven't talked to Brandon or Nick since closing day but it looks like we might have both of them.

Ok for those considering...

from the SDC website:
1 single day pass to SDC $54.81 w tax

1 show lovers pass $11 per person

1 buffet lunch $17.99 per person

= $84

or $40 for ACE members, $50 for non ACE members.

ERT on PowderKeg, Wildfire and Fire in the Hole (weather permitting)
Priceless.

Got back earlier today from Branson, Coaster Christmas I think was a great success this year!  41 people attended from 10 different states.  Due to weather we didn't have ERT on Wildfire or PowderKeg (which is the reason for my post), however the park did make up as much as possible by arranging a unique behind the scenes tour of both rides maintaince facilities.  I can't believe no one has photos yet!

Anywho.  Because of weather this year as in the past we are CONSIDERING changing the date for Coaster Christmas.  Next year the 1st saturday of December would be December 4th.  However we are considering moving it to November the 13th (Saturday), still during the Old Time Christmas celebration (going by this years schedule), a week before IAAPA and 2 weeks before thanksgiving, plus weather should be MUCH better.  What is everyone's opinion on this?  If you read this and don't wish to post you can also e-mail me your opinions at jlovesee@sbcglobal.net

Thanks!

^We got home around 5pm today.  Been way too busy getting things ready for work tomorrow to post photos, but we will soon.

I'm for moving it, though the 13th conflicts with a Mizzou home game for us.

November 13 is a very busy weekend for Branson, MO and SDC as it is the Veterans homecoming week. They tend to pack most all the hotels that weekend for the event. This also means the hotels charge a much higher rate than normal. I have been down a few times on this week and I know. Unless you can get us a hotel block somewhere for the event it will be hard to attend.

So my vote goes to keep it on the same weekend.

Does the first week of November always kick off the Old Time Christmas festival of SDC?  It looks like this year it started Nov 7th which is the first Saturday of November, so that MIGHT work.   November is a hard month I think that's why it wasn't originally scheduled then anyway (IAAPA and Thanksgiving).  Good point on Veterans Day.  I COULD look at a block of hotel rooms, though prices may be higher from SDC too, and that's one thing we want to avoid. I like the opinions though, keep em coming.
