Conneaut Lake Park - Off Season Tour
« on: Feb 13, 2010, 10:00 »
Josh provided us with some cool shots from a recent tour at Conneaut Lake Park.  I didn't know much about this park and his shots are the first that I've seen of the place.

Its a very small park, but has a very rich History with the area. The lake that it sits beside was a test lake for GE when they would make engines For submarines and would test them in this lake. The lake is the deepest lake in Pennsylvania. The Roller coaster is a Regonized Historical A.C.E. Coaster,

Hmm I am not sure about a fire there this week, I will call my Aunt, she lives within walking distance from the park I would had assumed she would have called me on that. This park, unfortunately, has been riddled with fires of the last few years. There have been two fires, but the one to the Ballroom was by far the worse, and in some of the pictures I shared you can see some boarded up buildings that was post fire from 2 years ago. This park has had a TON of financial problems, and has had an A.C.E. coaster sitting for 4 years because they cannot get the fund to get the coaster to run. I think this may turn into an Idora Park Eventually. This park sure had its glory days, but has really struggled alot in the last 10 years. I am a history buff when it Comes to parks, and since this is from the area I was born, this one hold something special for me. But here is a good link of what the park was and it, in a video format. Kinda a Shaky video, but you can tell from pictures only taken a couple years ago the roller coaster ride this park has truly had.
