I drove by a couple of weeks ago and didn't see much.  There were a couple of flat rides that were put together and sitting near the fire station.

It also looked like they were working on the large river near the bridge that crosses into the park.

I wonder if they'll consider buying any of the flat rides from CC

I'm assuming that credit market conditions made it difficult to secure the next round of financing.  I'm sure that it will all come together in the end but it's apparently going to take longer than expected.

I haven't seen any movement this winter.  I at first thought it might be due to the weather and the frozen ground in KC. However, that hasn't stopped any earth being moved or construction Just Northwest at the Plaza at The Speedway  site, not the new Wizards stadium.

The last I heard on the project was a very contentious meeting between Schlitterbahn brass and the top of the UG regarding the bond issuance and Schlitterbahn firing their General Contractor and bringing in non-union labor.

This is looking worse every day.

and maybe (probably) nothing will get done this off season... which is what looks to be the case. :(

I know I'm not going to win any friends at SVV by saying this, but I have a hard time buying that line.  They have $75 million to do the initial outlay for this: http://schlitterblogkc.blogspot.com/2010/01/new-schlitterbahn-cedar-park.html but not enough to at least complete Phase I of SVV?  Sounds like it is less an issue of credit and more a case of KC not being a priority to them.

They're independent investments.  The SVV site was being built with state bonds and local investors.  The state issue is a murky one and it sounds like it's an issue involving the unions since SVV used a lot of their own construction crews.  The local investors are where the credit issue lay.

The new park in Texas is being funded by Texas investors.

I'm fairly confident that SVV will get done.  It's just going to take a lot longer than they had originally planned.

How hard is it to put up a few more slide towers, most of the construction did happen in just a few months, so who knows maybe they will surprise us. Personally I think they should have worked much harder over the winter to get the park up to its hype. At this rate it will take 10 years to make anything amazing. They keep saying they will announce new stuff soon , well soon time is running out. Wyco just sounds like it is making them very hard to move forward.

Has anyone been out there this season?
Did Blitz Falls (the connector from Crystal River to Torrent River) open this year?

I know that Scheels has to be built this off season in order for Schlitterbahn to receive it's 250 million dollars in bond money from wyco.  Until that happens, schlitterbahn will be just another glorified residential waterpark.  Oh and who ever is responsible for schlitterbahns blog said that Blitz falls would be completed early summer, but it won't be finished this year.
That park is an eyesore with the dirtwork everywhere.  I'm officially renaming the park El Paso.

It does have a lot of potential.  I think that it will eventually be a really awesome place, and I'm excited to go to BahnCon here in week from Sunday.  It'll get there.

It might have potential but until it reaches that potential is a let down in my opinion.  I haven't been but I've driven past it and El Paso is a good way to describe it.  I'd rather just go to OoF.

I actually went for the first time today and agree. The setting and surroundings were strange.

I had a good time though. It's a strange layout right now IMO and needs more rides, but it was still fun (free tickets FTW). I'm not much of a waterpark fan so the rides didn't impress me much. The one regular tube slide I rode (Bahnzai) was lame, and the Storm Blaster was interesting but a bit of a letdown. I enjoyed the torrent river though.

All in all, it's okay now, and allowing coolers is a nice touch, but I'm not sure I'll be back until they get more of the development finished. When the full resort opens, it will be awesome.

On their blog it gives hints of whats new for 2011, but does not say what parks.  One of the clues says "Surfs Up".  I'm guessing this would be a boogie bahn for the KC park because the other 3 parks in Texas have one already.  Either way they still need to complete the other chute so you don't have to leave the water.

^I honestly think that is what annoys me most about the current KC park.  I love the Master Blaster, but hate how once I get done riding it, I have to exit at Crystal Beach and then walk all the way to Torrent Beach to get back in the water to ride again.

A Boogie Bahn would be fun.  Magic Springs added one this year and it was quite successful

"When people whet out last year, they thought many of those phases had already happened," said Jones. "They are going to happen and it's going to be sometime in the near future."

"The park is on target to construct a Scheel's sporting good store by 2012, but additional rides and a promised hotel are on hold until the economy turns around."

Nothing new for 2011??

I pasted it from a Fox news article from May which I googled" Schlitterbahn kc 2011", which was printed before this season, however it kind of shows how they are giving the public the run around since blitz falls tube chute was to be completed early summer!!

The article also said that only fifteen percent of the park had been built.
Oh well I'm sick of crying about it, I'm out of tissues.

Schlitterbahn KC is still an enigma to me.  I just don't understand why it is taking so long to get this place up the standards of the other Schlitterbahn parks.
